Plastic Play is an exploration of plasticity, projection, and movement that drives interactions between color and form, creating an effect of visual displacement. The design plays with “ocular” and optical ambiguity. It implies continuity among voids, creating a sense of intrigue for passing viewers by inviting them to connect the pieces and solve the “puzzle” using sight. The vivid, reflective colors break the rigidity of the Neo. Brutalist apparatus by insinuating visual buoyancy and contrasting with the muted, rough surface of the plastic mass. The apparatus is an obelisk (or toy) penetrated by distorted extrusions that create moments of potential interaction with different mega-graphic colors. Its form appears to stretch the projection of colored lights along the twisting axes of figural voids. The synthesis of form and color evokes sensual dynamism, acting along viewers’ mobile vectors of vision .Apparatus and image conspire to arrest animation in sublime moments of stillness.
